# Flow network upgrade incoming

Hello Flow Node Operators,

The Flow Foundation is currently investigating a potential security incident affecting the Flow network. To resolve the issue, the network will undergo a full network upgrade (spork).

Please be prepared to update your nodes. The exact ETA is not yet confirmed, but we expect the spork to occur **within the next few hours**.

## **Action Required (Ahead of the Network Upgrade)**

### **1) Access Nodes / EVM Gateway (EVM GW)**

If you are running an **Access Node** or **EVM Gateway** , please **shut down your node before** the network upgrade begins.

### **2) All Other Node Types**

If you are running a **Consensus, Collection, Verification, or Execution** node, please **shut down your node at the time** of the network upgrade.

## **After the Network Upgrade**

Once the network upgrade is complete, we will post an update on both the **Message Forum** and **Discord** , requesting that you restart your nodes. Please be on the lookout for the announcement and ensure you are subscribed to updates:

- Subscribe to the forum thread for notifications, **and/or**
- Join the Discord `#flow-validators` channel

When you see the announcement **“Mainnet Spork Complete”** , please perform [Step 1](https://developers.flow.com/networks/node-ops/node-operation/spork#step-1---cleaning-up-previous-spork-state), followed by [Step 2](https://developers.flow.com/networks/node-ops/node-operation/spork#step-2---start-your-node).

Note: Flow Port will be inaccessible during the upgrade, and staking features will be disabled until the spork is complete.
